ESW is developing a superior solution for reliable Vacuum Insulating Glass Units. The Company is combining innovations from the electronics, automotive and construction industries to achieve a unique solution (the ‘Solution’), that offers substantial improvements in thermal efficiency and long-term reliability.

ESW has secured the support of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), as well as the DOE’s two leading facilities for Windows R&D: the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO and the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA. In addition, some of the nation’s largest Windows manufacturers have also joined ESW to design, build and test a solution that promises:
A VIGU is an IGU in which the air or fill-gas in the space between the panes has been replaced with a vacuum. VIGUs offer far superior insulating values than today’s IGUs.
Like a Thermos® bottle, which can keep its contents hot or cold, ESW’s VIGUs will keep building owners and occupants comfortably insulated at any outside temperature. Owners and occupants will also enjoy more daylight from larger window areas while saving on heating and cooling costs.
